Theodor Heuss Medal 2019

A group of Chemnitz citizens within the cultural alliance “Hand in Hand” will be awarded the Theodor Heuss Medal 2019. They receive this recognition for their action on 09/01/2018, “in which the demonstrators of Pro Chemnitz and AfD were confronted with texts of the Basic Law and a banner “The Dignity of Human Beings is contestable” was installed in order to react in an objective, peaceful and original way to the hatred following a violent death in the city and to encourage further reflection” (from the jury’s statement).
